The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) investigated the proposals submitted by Austrian OMV and Russian Zarubezhneft for development of two oil fields.
The proposals fro development of Aban and West Paidar oilfields were discussed in a meeting of the NIOC special advisory committee for management of the country’s oil reservoirs, Integrated Planning Department of NIOC said in a statement.
Last year, Russian Zarubezhneft signed a MoU with the NIOC to provide Iran with strategic methods for increasing the recovery rate in Aban and West Paidar oilfields after carrying out the needed studies. Iran shares the mentioned fields with Iraq.
The NIOC had earlier signed similar MoU with OMV, a leading international oil and gas company, for studying several oil fields including West Paidar and submitting the study results and development proposals to the Iranian side.
Aban oil field is shared with Iraq. It is located in Ilam province, about 38 kilometers southwest of Dehluran city to the west of West Paydar, east of Dehluran and southwest to Сheshmeh Khosh fields. The field contains 138 million barrels of in-situ oil reserves, with API of 21.1
The west Paydar oil field straddles between Iran and Iraq, about 150 km north-west of Ahwaz, and 35 km south-west of the Cheshmeh Khosh Production Unit. The field contains 1.07 billion barrels of oil reserves, with API of 18 to 20.
