The head of Chabahar Free Zone Organization, Abdolrahim Kordi, has said that the country seeks to launch steel and petrochemical projects in the southeastern port city.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, he said the construction of a steel company has already begun which has been completed by 15 percent.
Coming to petrochemical sector, three petrochemical units are under construction and 15 more are expected to be constructed in the future.
In the meantime, a project for the construction of a gas pipeline from Iranshahr City to Chabahar.
The first phase of the Chabahar port was inaugurated in December 2017. Chabahar provides India with an easier land-sea route to Afghanistan. The Indian government has committed to provide $500 million to develop the port.
