An Iranian provincial official said Iran and China have signed an agreement whereby Beijing will provide $80 million finance construction of a gas compression facility in the country’s southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan.

“Chinese investors plan to form a local company named ‘Iran’s Pars Compressor’ to launch the gas compression plant,” Nabi Bakhsh Davoodi, the province’s deputy governor, told IRNA.

He added that this would help create job opportunities for more than 1000 people directly and indirectly, in the city of Iranshahr.

According to reports, the Chinese side will complete the project within three months.

Recently, Iran awarded another agreement to China to develop a major petrochemical park in Chabahar port city in the same province.
