Italy, has taken part among the top 20 destinations of Iran’s non-oil exports in the last fiscal year, ended March 20, according to the Islamic Republic’s official data.
Iran exported $423 million worth of goods to Italy in the last fiscal year, which made the European country 14th destination of Iran’s commodities in the period, Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) said.
However, the value of Iran’s exports to Italy witnessed a fall by 8 percent, year-on-year.
The Islamic Republic exported 765,000 tons of goods to the European country in the same span of time, 1 percent less compared to the preceding year.
Meanwhile the Islamic Republic imports from Italy registered a rise by 16 percent to $1,428 million in the 12-month period.
Besides Italy, Germany was the other European country in the top 20 of Iran’s non-oil export destinations in the last fiscal year.
Germany imported $360 million worth of goods from Iran in the 12-month period and stood at 18th place in the list.
Iran’s exports to Germany witnessed a rise by 12 percent in terms of value. However the counry’s imports from the Islamic Republic increased by 26 percent in terms of weight to 49,000 tons.
Over 65 percent of Iran's export was targeted to five Asian countries, including China, the UAE, Iraq, South Korea and Turkey during the last fiscal year.
China, Iran’s traditional trade partner from the sanctions period, has maintained its position as the Islamic Republic’s top trade partner in the period.
Over $9.065 billion worth of Iran’s non-oil exports went to China in the last fiscal year, equal to 19.3 percent of the Islamic Republic’s total exported commodities. Iran’s exports to China increased by 8 percent year-on-year in terms of value.
Iran exported $6.764 billion worth of goods to the UAE, which marked 14.4 percent of the country’s total exports’ value. Meanwhile, Iran’s exports to the UAE registered a fall by 10 percent year-on-year.
Iraq ($6.425 billion), South Korea (with $4.38 billion), Turkey ($3.99 billion), Afghanistan ($2.792 billion), India ($2.735 billion), Pakistan ($931 million), Thailand ($731 million), Indonesia ($645 million), Taiwan ($573 million), Oman ($521 million), Japan ($425 million), Turkmenistan ($418 million), Hong Kong($379 million),Vietnam ($364 million), Syria($326 million) and Azerbaijan ($324 million) were the other top importers of Iranian goods.
Iran’s exports to South Korea and Syria increased by 52 percent and 27 percent, respectively, year-on-year.
The value of exports to Turkey had also registered an increase by 23 percent.
The country’s exports to the UAE, Japan and Oman registered fall of 10, 63 and 4 percent. Iran’s exports to India, Vietnam, Hong Kong and Turkmenistan also witnessed a fall by 2, 10, 27 and 24 percent, respectively in terms of value, year on year.
Meanwhile, exports to Indonesia and Thailand witnessed huge rise by 273 and 90 percent, in terms of value, respectively.
Iran’s exports to Iraq (5 percent increase), Pakistan (17 percent) and Afghanistan (14 percent) also witnessed growth in the period.
