Iran’s service exports witness slow growth

Iran exported $12.303 billion worth of services during the last fiscal year, ended March 20, 2018, according to the latest data released by Trade Promotion Organization of Iran.

Iran’s services exports registered a rise by 3.7 percent compared to the same period of the preceding year.

Iran’s revenues via services exports amounted to over $1.5 billion in the 12th calendar month of the last fiscal year.

The Islamic Republic puts technical and engineering services, tourism and transit sectors in service sector exports.

Iran’s technical and engineering services exports stood at over $1.01 billion in the 12-month period, registering a rise by 6.1 percent.

Tourism sector revenues stood at $8.22 billion , registering a fall by 1.1 percent year-on-year.

The country’s revenues from transit increased by 18 percent to $3.06 billion in the period.

The marine transit registered highest growth year-on-year by 33.9 percent and stood at $170 billion .

The country’s revenues from road transit stood at $2.36 billion (a 18.8 percent increase), followed by air transportation ($384 million, an 11.6 percent increase), marine and railway transit ($140.7 million, a 9.1 percent rise).

Iran plans to increase the value of the services provided to other countries to $30 billion by 2021.
