The Bushehr nuclear power plant has helped Iran to save about 47 million barrel of oil equivalent during his activity period.
The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran said that the power plant has produced 30,000 million kilowatt hours of electricity since it became operational seven years ago.
The power plant has supplied 26.727 million kilowatt hours of electricity to the country’s national power gird in the period, according to the organization.
On the other hand, the power plant prevents environmental pollution from burning fossil fuel as its activity has reduced emission of some 27 million tons of various pollutant gases in the 7-year term.
Bushehr NPP inaugurated in September 2013, after two years of test operations. It has a capacity of producing 1000 megawatts of electricity. The power plant has a capacity to produce up to 5 billion megawatt hours of electricity per year, which is about 2 percent of country's total electricity production.
Supplying the fuel of Iran's only nuclear power plant -Bushehr, is guaranteed by Russia for 10 years. The power plant produces about seven billion kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity after every fuel change.
During every fuel change about one third or 27 tons of the power plant's fuel should be changed which costs over $60 million.
The core of the Bushehr reactor is composed of 163 fuel assemblies of which 54 should be changed every year.
