Iran-Oman trade turnover on rise – figures

The volume of trade turnover between Iran and Oman increased fourfold in the first three months of the current Iranian fiscal year (started March 21) compared to the same period last year, according to Iran Customs Administration.

Figures released recently by Iran Customs Administration showed that the trade exchange between the two countries witnessed a significant growth in the first three months of this year, ISNA reported on July 22.

Iran exported 734,000 tons of goods worth $223 to Oman during the period, the report said, registering a 55 percent and 62 growth in weight and value respectively.

This is while 474,000 tons of goods worth $137 million were shipped to the Persian Gulf littoral state during the same corresponding period last year.

Oman also exported 264,000 tons of goods worth $220 million to Iran during the first three months, the figures showed, marking a 511 percent and 345 percent increase in weight and value, correspondingly.

Iran-Oman are working on several joint investment projects. They include the Iran-Oman gas pipeline, the Iran-Oman shipping line, and a $250-million shopping mall in Iran, to be developed by Omani investors.
