Prosecutor: Illegal importers earn some $400K from mobile phone sales

The fight against corruption continues in Iran, and investigation at every level will be carried out in the country, Tehran’s Public and Revolution Courts Prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dolatabadi said, Fars News Agency reported.

He said that according to officials, in general, an equivalent of $220 million at the official exchange rate of Iran was allocated for the import of mobile phones to the country.

As much as 46 million euros, 14 million yuan and 18 million dirham of this amount were handed over to 40 importing companies, he added.

In total, 320,000 mobile phones were imported to Iran and 274,000 mobile phones were sold in the market, he noted.

Forty importing companies illegally earned a total of $400,000 by selling mobile phones at higher prices in Iran, said Dolatabadi.
