Around 2,590 tons of shrimps have been produced from an area of 830 hectares in Gumushan farm in Iran’s Golestan province since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year, said Director General of the Golestan Veterinary Organization, Golmirza Mehrabi.

He noted that currently, the shrimp hunting has ended in Gumushan farm, ISNA reported.

Mehrabi went on to add that no disease has been recorded so far in Gumushan farm.

Around 1,690 tons of shrimp was produced in Golestan province last year.

It is planned to export shrimps from Golestan province to Spain for the first time after obtaining license to ship shrimps to Europe directly.

Plans are underway to export 50 kilogram of shrimps to Spain for the first time. This could facilitate the export of the sea creature to European nations.

It is expected to export 2 to 3 million tons of processed shrimps to Spain by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21).

The province is currently exporting shrimps to China and the UAE.
