Iran ready to commission 70,000-ton wheat warehouse in Bokan County

A wheat warehouse with a capacity of 70,000 tons is ready for commission in Bokan County of Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province, Vorya Shirzad, director of the West Azerbaijan provincial branch of the Government Trading Corporation of Iran under the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Shirzad, this warehouse will be commissioned on March 16.

Shirzad added that the warehouse was built on 13 hectares of land and more than 200 billion rials (app. $4.76 million) were spent for the construction of the warehouse.

"It will be possible to use this warehouse for wheat imports and exports," he said.

The 70,000-ton warehouse will also prevent the export of wheat produced in Bokan to other counties of the province. The commissioning of the warehouse will allow for the county to store up to 95,000 tons of wheat annually.

With its 110,000 hectares of arable area, Bokan County is as the leading wheat producer of West Azerbaijan Province.
