Iran to increase production of aluminum oxide

The production of aluminum oxide at the Jajarm plant located in Iran’s north-eastern province will reach 250,000 tons this year (started on March 21, 2019), Khudadad Garibpur, Iran's Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, Director of Board of Iran's Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), said.

Aluminum ingots weighing 1,000 lbs were produced at the plant for the first time last Iranian year (started on March 21, 2018), Garibpur added, Trend reports referring to IMIDRO's website.

He added that 40,000 tons of aluminum are expected to be produced at the plant at the first phase.

Some 94 million euros and 2.1 trillion rials (about $50 million) were invested in this plant, Garibpur said.

He said that the aluminum oxide production will reach 120,000 tons at the plant during the next phase.

Some 13,000 people work at the plant, Garibpur added.
