Petrochemical industry in Iran goes through significant changes, Ali Mohammad Bosaghzadeh, Production Control Director at Iran’s National Petrochemical Company (NPC), told ISNA, Trend reports.

In his words, the process of privatization of petrochemical plants, which are turned into various holdings, is underway for several years. According to him, many petrochemical enterprises including Kermanshah Polymer Plant, Mahabad Petrochemical Plant and Kordestan Petrochemical Plant became part of Bakhtar Holding.

Bosaghzadeh added that other production facilities including Nouri, Buali Sina, Bandar Imam, Fajr and Mobin currently are operating as part of Persian Gulf Holding. "Moreover, the Bid-Boland, Lordegan and Ilam petrochemical plants have also become part of Persian Gulf Holding. Efforts are being made for these facilities to start production this [Iranian] year (started on March 21, 2019)," he said.

He also said that the petrochemical plants are fully supplied with fuel.

As was stated earlier by Behzad Mohammadi, CEO of NPC, the production potential of Iran's petrochemical products for sale will increase from 31 million to 51 million tons over the next two years, and this will increase the industry's revenues from $17.1 billion to $25 billion.

According to Mohammadi, more than 31 million tons of polymers and 8.5 million tons of chemicals and non-chemical products are put up for sale across the country. He said that 22.5 million tons of petrochemical products worth $12.1 billion are exported.
