By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Germany would've been Iran's first trade partner, had the US not imposed the sanctions on Iran, Chairman of the Agricultural Commission of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture and Secretary General of the Federation of Iranian Food Associations Kaveh Zargaran said.

Zargaran made the remarks at the meeting with the German delegation in the German-Iranian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Trend reports referring to the Federation of Iranian Food Associations.

The economic relations between Iran and Germany are also developing, Zargaran added.

He expressed hope that Germany would not leave Iran in such a difficult economic situation and create favorable mechanism to protect the situation in the market and render assistance to its trade partner.

The expansion of political and economic relations between Iran and Germany may contribute to the development of infrastructure and economic development of Iran, Zargaran said.

According to the report of the Iran Trade Promotion Organization, the Islamic Republic exported products worth $20 million to Germany and imported the products worth $120 million from March 21 to April 20 of this Iranian year.

The export of Iranian goods to Germany increased by 91 percent, while import dropped by 6 percent from March 21 to April 20 of this Iranian year compared to the same period of last Iranian year.

The US imposed sanctions on Iran in November 2018.
