Pistachio harvest is expected to increase by 35 percent in Nishapur county of Iran’s north-eastern Razavi Khorasan province this Iranian year, Mohammad Ali Farahmand Rad, director of the agricultural department of Nishapur county, said.
Some 3,200 tons of pistachios are expected to be harvested this Iranian year, Rad added, Trend reports referring to IRNA.
He added that about 850 tons of pistachios were harvested last Iranian year and the farmers would receive the profit worth 3.2 trillion rials (about $76.1 million).
The territory covered by pistachio trees increased by 100 hectares and totalled 5,600 hectares compared to last Iranian year, Rad said.
Presently, agricultural products are grown on the territory stretching 91,500 hectares in Nishapur county. Some 50,000 people have been employed in the agricultural sector of this county.
