In the current Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), the production and exports of Iran Mineral Salts Co., located in the country's Markazi province, has increased by 10 percent and 20 percent, respectively, the company's Executive Director Ali Rustami said, Trend reports via IRNA.
The company's output has reached 137,000 tons this year, Rustami said.
The director added that the company's salt exports amounted to 17,000 tons, while in the same period of the previous year this figure was 14,000 tons.
The company's sales soared by 104 percent, compared to the same period last year, thus increased from 670 billion rials ($15.9 million) to 1.37 trillion rials ($32.6 million), Rustami said.
Moreover, the company's profit soared by 138 percent, compared to the same period last year, having increased from 350 billion rials ($8.33 million) to 830 billion rials ($19.7 million), the director added.
The director said that earlier, on average, about 4 percent of mining materials were lost. As a result of the efforts made by the company's specialists, this volume was reduced to 2.5 percent in the past year.
The Iran Mineral Salts Co. was established in 1984. The Garmsar county plant of the company was commissioned in 1994, the first phase of the Arak county plant was commissioned in 2000, while the second phase of the plant started operating in 2005.
A new plant of the company is under construction in Garmsar county. The plant will produce 40,000 tonnes of potassium sulfate, potassium chloride and sulfuric acid per year.
Every year, Iran imports about 200,000 tons of potassium sulfate.
