Iran discloses volume of exports from border markets of Sistan and Baluchestan province

The products worth $420.7 million have been exported from the border markets of Iran’s south-eastern Sistan and Baluchestan province since the beginning of this Iranian year (began on March 21, 2019) up till now, Director of the Border Markets Organization of the province Mobin Alimir said.

“The export of goods through the border markets increased by 47 percent compared to the same period of last year,” Alimir added, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

The director added that the products worth $286 million were exported through the border markets of the province during the same period of last year (from March 21, 2018, through March 21, 2019).

"Among the main products exported through the border markets of the province were building materials, food, fruits and vegetables," Alimir said.

The director said that the products worth $6.84 million were imported through the border markets of the province in the same period of last year.

"So far, the products worth $23.2 million have been imported through the border markets of the province since the beginning of the year," Alimir said.

The director said that the activity of 12 border markets in the province may have a great positive impact on the economy.

Iran produces about four million tons of agricultural products per year in Sistan and Baluchestan province.

Sistan and Baluchestan province has a common border with Afghanistan (about 300 km) and Pakistan (921 km).
