2nd phase of processing plant in Iran's West Azerbaijan province soon to be commissioned with German investment

The second phase of the fruit processing plant in the Urmia county of Iran's West Azerbaijan province will be commissioned in the next few months with German investments, the Executive Director of West Azerbaijan Industrial Parks Organization Ali Abduli said, Trend reports via IRNA.

The amount of the investments made by German investors in the plant's second phase is predicted to reach about 20 million euros, Ali Abduli said, adding that in the current Iranian year (started on March 21, 2019), the first phase of the plant was launched with 13 million euros of German investments.

The director noted that 600 tons of tomato paste are processed in the first phase of the plant, which employs 110 people.

After the full commission, the plant will provide 500 people with jobs, Ali Abduli added.

Commenting on the potential of the fruit and processing industry in the West Azerbaijan province, Ali Abduli said that commissioning of the processing plants will play a key role in the economic development of the province.

West Azerbaijan province is considered to be one of the least industrially developed provinces of Iran. Work is underway to develop industrial and manufacturing facilities and attract investment.

Annually, 1.2 million tons of fruit is produced in the province.
