Iranian Azar oil field's output expected to grow

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 13

Several sections of the central processing unit of the development project of Iran’s Azar joint oil field are about to start early production, bringing the field’s output to the planned level, said Keyvan Yarahmadi, the project operator in western Iran, Trend reports referring to Mehr news agency.

Yarahmadi noted that the oil field’s output will reach 65,000 barrels per day soon given inauguration of the new facilities.

The production is set to begin in mid-March, the operator said.

Yarahmadi noted that the LP and HP flares of the unit were set in motion after carrying out all the related operations including piping, instruments supply and pre-commissioning tests.

Yarahmadi added that the LP flare is 37 meters high and has a 16-inch gas riser and a 28-inch air riser.

The HP flare is 72 meters high and has a 28-inch gas riser and a 42-inch air riser, the operator noted.

Azar, one of Iran’s joint fields with Iraq, spans an overall area of 482 square kilometers in southeast of Mehran town in the western Iranian province of Ilam. There are a total of 2.5 billion barrels of oil in the field, and 400 million barrels of this volume can be extracted.
