By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Iran’s Ardabil province will join the International North-South Transport Corridor, Iranian MP Sodeif Badri said, Trend reports via IRNA.

Badri noted that Ardabil’s joining the corridor is in the limelight for the purpose of the province’s trade, economic and tourism development.

The MP added that Ardabil province has a 300-kilometer border with Azerbaijan and great potential will emerge with joining the international corridor.

The Iranian MP said that with Ardabil’s joining the corridor, it will be possible to exchange goods on the Persian Gulf route.

“The construction of the Ardabil railway is in the focus of the government,” Badri noted. “The work has been accelerated with the provision of funds and its completion is scheduled for next Iranian year (March 21, 2020).”

Badri added that Ardabil is the most logical and least costly railway in the International North-South Transport Corridor.

With the construction of this railroad to Bileh Savar district in Iran, Ardabil province will be fully integrated into Iranian railways, the MP noted.
