Iran to put into operation new facilities in electricity and water sector

Iran will commission new facilities in the areas of water and electricity in the current Iranian year (before March 20, 2020), Minister of Energy of Iran Reza Ardakanian said, Trend reports the ministry’s official website.

He made the remark at the video conference dedicated to the commissioning of a new phase at the Shahid Bastami thermal power plant in the Shahrud county of Iran's Semnan Province.

According to him, more than 19 water and electricity facilities have been commissioned at a cost of more than 90 trillion rials (about $2.14 billion) from the beginning of current Iranian year (March 20, 2020) to now.

The minister added that 3 water reservoirs, 4 sewage reservoirs were put into operation, 22,000 hectares of land are provided with water network, a city is supplied with water.

About 250 water, electricity and sewerage facilities are planned to be commissioned in Iran in the current Iranian year (began March 20, 2020). About 500 trillion rials (about $11.9 billion) have been spent on these facilities.

With 330 trillion rials (about $7.85 billion), 227 facilities in the water and electricity sector were commissioned in 31 provinces of Iran in the second half of last Iranian year (began as of September 23, 2019).

A phase of the Shahid Bastami thermal power plant in the Shahrud county in Semnan Province (northern Iran) has been put into operation to upgrade the power plant's production by 21 megawatts.
