Iran's home appliance market affected by imports

TEHRAN, Iran, Nov.23

Trend:

Iran's home appliance market is in recession due to the coronavirus spread and changes in foreign currency rates, said the vice president of Iran Home Appliances Sellers Association Mohammad Hossein Eslamian, Trend reports via ILNA.

"There has also been an 80-percent drop of demands in recent months," Eslamian added.

"Ministry of Industries, Mine and Trade has approved the release of 420 containers of imported home appliances that would certainly reduce the sale of Iranian goods," he said.

"The prices on domestic home appliances have been dropped due to fall of demands and change of foreign currency rate," he said.

"We are not opposed to import of goods that have no similar Iranian quality. However, along with those, the mentioned containers, aside from refrigerators and washing machines, would include other commodities, such as dishwashers, etc.," he noted.

"If the domestic commodities have good quality there is no need to import similar products, especially in the current economic situation," he said.
