Iran has the tech capacity to transfer water by installing long water pipelines, said First Vice President.

"Iran has reached a good point in water transfer and long pipelines have been created to transfer water from the Persian Gulf to the country's central plateau," said Eshaq Jahangiri, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The government has operated big projects despite limitations in financial resources and foreign currency. Water is vital and water facilities should be protected and drinking water should not be threatened," he said during an inauguration ceremony of new water projects in Yazd Province.

"Construction of the dam in Yazd was important since water is vital for this province, Khansari dam and 20,000 cubic meter water reservoir in Meybod and water transfer pipelines to Meybod and Ardakan were other projects that were built. The government formed working groups in provinces that are challenged by water shortage and drought that drafted a document and governors and officials should implement the document," he said.

Four important water and power projects were operated by the First Vice President in Yazd Province. The following projects were launched in Khatam, Abarkoh, Meybod, Ardakan, and Yazd provinces via video conference.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has inaugurated the first phase of the water transfer project in November 20202 aimed at desalinating and transferring water from the Persian Gulf to the central areas of the country. The first phase of the project is capable of desalinating and transferring around 200,000 cubic meters of water in 24 hours. The water will meet part of the needs of industries and residential areas in central and southeastern provinces.
