The Iran Shipping Line Group has been the first defense line during international sanctions and economic war said the CEO of Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Line Group, (IRISL) Mohammadreza Modares Khiabani in an exclusive note provided to Trend.
"The role of supporting services is an important part of the value chain in production and supplying products and transportation systems are one of the most effective elements in the production cycle and economic boom and country's development," he said.
"The Iran Shipping Line Group has always been leading force in punctual transportation of necessary and strategic commodities during all challenges caused by economic sanctions. During two periods of international sanctions the Iran Shipping Line Group was and still is sanctioned and it seems that the opponents are fully aware of the importance and vital position of this strategic property for Iran," he stressed.
Khiabani went on to note that the national fleet has played its role as the first defense line during difficult situations and international pressures and by efforts of its staff in offshore and onshore sectors the country's production sectors did not face any shortages.
He went on to say that while necessary commodities that are considered as people's basic need are under sanction, the IRISL have delivered them on time to country's ports.
"The national fleet has been a strategic instrument for Iran's negotiators to increase their bargaining capacity during sanctions, previous negotiations, and current ones to prove Iran's rights. However some ships are left out of export and import transportation due to carelessness of some individuals," Khiabani added.
The Ministry of Industries Mine and Trade started to support domestic organizations by providing incentives such as exempting customs duties for importers that transporting their goods by IRISL.
It is expected that public and private organizations such as the Trade and Promotion Organization, the Industrial Development & Renovation Organization of Iran (IDRO), Government Trading Corporation Of Iran, Agricultural Support Services Company would implement exemptions for the supply of necessary goods and boosting production to increase capacities of Iran shipment fleet in international waters.
