Iran's steel consumption increases

TEHRAN, Iran, June 1

Iranian Steel Producers Association announced that the consumption of steel products in the country in April 2021, compared to the same period last year, increased by eight percent, Trend reports via IRNA.

During the first month of the current Iranian year (started on March 21), 1.5 million tons of various steel products including beams, rebars, studs, angles and sheets were consumed in the country.

According to the Iranian Steel Producers Association, last year`s consumption stood at 1.4 million tons in the same period.

In April, 2.2 million tons of steel ingots (slabs, billets and bloom) were consumed in the country, which indicates a growth of seven percent, compared to the same period last year.

During the first month of the current Iranian year (started on March 21) the sponge iron consumption increased by 13 percent to 2.9 million tons, compared to same period last year.

2.805 million tons of ingots (billets, bloom and slabs) were produced in April.

The production of steel products (beams, rebars, studs, angles, sheets, etc.) in Iran in the first month of the current Iranian year (started on March 21), was over 1.749 million tons.

The sponge iron production increased by 15 percent in April compared to the same period last year (which was 2.6 million tons), reached 3.1 million tons.
