TEHRAN, Iran, June. 8
Trend:
Iran’s representative at international organizations in Vienna has advised the head of the UN nuclear watchdog to distance itself from any political agenda.
Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN in Vienna, Kazem Gharibabadi called Rafael Grossi’s assertion, one-sided, Trend reports citing Tasnim News Agency,
He went on to criticize the one-sided approach of the IAEA and warned that the new report could harm relations between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
“Positions show the biased approach of the Secretariat vis-à-vis its interactions with Iran, which ignores the level of cooperation and engagement,” he said. “This approach could turn into an obstacle for future goodwill interactions between the two sides.”
He called Grossi’s report not valid, as it is not based on reliable sources, nor is it convincing, as it does not reflect all aspects of cooperation.
Gharibabadi said that the Agency report lacks triple C: it's not “consistent” in relations with the background of cooperation between two sides; it's not “credible” since is not based on reliable sources; it's not “convincing” since does not contain all aspects of the cooperation and progress made.
He went on to say that constructive engagement requires a positive environment, avoiding expressing any pre-judgment and artificial concerns, as well as unnecessary overstatement of a few trivial issues.
“The Agency shouldn't act as if it's supporting the political agenda of some against the others”
In comments on Monday to the IAEA's board of governors, Grossi said "as we speak we haven't had any concrete progress on any of the issues."
He said Iran also hasn't answered questions regarding another undeclared location.
"For objectivity's sake, I should say that the Iranian government has reiterated its will to engage and to cooperate and to provide answers, but they haven't done that so far," Grossi told reporters.
"We cannot limit and continue to curtail the ability of the inspectors to inspect and at the same time pretend that there is trust," he added.
