Iran constructing more freeways

TEHRAN, Iran, June 26

Iran's Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructures Company is busy building some 440 kilometers of freeways, said the Managing Director the company Kheyrollah Khademi said, Trend reports via IRNA.

"The remaining freeways that are under construction, and will be launched by the end of the current Iranian year (started March 21,2021)," said Khademi.

"The company has planned construction of some 660 kilometers of freeways thanks to a $1.6-billion investment in the past two years. There are nine freeway projects that have good progress and should be paid attention to," he said.

"Fortunately in the last Iranian year, we finished 221 kilometers of freeways, which was 2.5 times more than the average annual operations. Ghadir and Isfahan eastern freeways were part of these projects," he said.

Khademi noted that there are 6 freeway projects that are underway.

"Five of those projects have a 70-percent progress, while one has an 80-percent progress," he noted.

He went on to add that if the promised financial resources of $714 million are provided, with private sector's help, the mentioned projects will move forward.

"The second part of Tehran- North Freeway and Manjil-Roudbar Freeway are the two other projects that we are working on, " he said.

"The construction of Marand-Tabriz Freeway is ongoing as well," he said.
