Iran's permanent membership in the Eurasia Economic Union would develop the economy of regional countries and the Caucasus, said the Iranian ambassador in Russia.
"Only one year after implementation of Iran and Eurasia Economic Union preferential trade agreement, Iran's foreign trade volume with the Eurasia Economic Union has reached to more than $3 billion," said Kazem Jalali, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"The preferential trade agreement between Iran and Eurasia Economic Union was the result of long negotiations and it had a considerable effect on increasing trade between the two sides after one and half years," he said during a panel in the Eurasia Expo 2021 in Tehran.
"In regard to Russia's approach and especially Russian President Vladimir Putin, there was a positive evaluation for expanding ties with Iran via Eurasia Economic Union and Iran's membership in this union," Jalali added.
It is expected that Tehran would soon start preparation work to join the EAEU as a permanent member. Iran has started negotiations to obtain a permanent membership.
The Eurasia Expo 2021 – Tehran is an opportunity to introduce the export capacities of Iran and the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The exhibition is being held for 4 days (July 9 and until July 12) in compliance with the health protocols.
The companies participating in this exhibition are active in banking and finance, technology transfer, construction of large factories, silos, ports, wharves, oil tanks, shipbuilding, steel, cement, and large sellers of livestock inputs and oil agricultural products.
