TEHRAN, Iran, Aug. 31

Trend:

The "Strategic Plan for the Home Appliance Industry" is being considered by the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran, which focuses on the rapid replacement of foreign imported home appliances with domestic production, Trend reports citing Tasnim News Agency.

The plan would ban the import of home appliances to Iran.

The Deputy Head of the Home Appliance Traders Union Mohammad Hossein Eslamian says that the strategic plan means the nationalization of home appliances and a ban on the import of foreign home appliances into the country.

The Plan emphasizes "reforming the license issuance.” Small and medium-sized production factories are also to be integrated through a network with the aim of organizing.

Referring to the home appliance market status, Eslamian said that currently, the most important issue in the home appliance market is stimulating demand. There is currently no demand for home appliances and the market is stagnant.
