TEHRAN, Iran, Aug.31
Trend:
The Arab states in the Persian Gulf import luxury commodities with high quality and Iran could have a bigger share in this, said the head of Iran Export Confederation Mohammad Lahouti said, Trend reports citing ILNA.
Lahouti indicated that the UAE is currently Iran's most important trade partner among Arab countries and Iran imports most of its commodities from the UAE while the UAE is the biggest exporter to Iran, after China.
The official noted that although Iran does not have significant trade with Saudi Arabia but the position of Saudi Arabia is effective regarding the foreign policies of other Arab countries.
"Following the disagreements between the two countries, and closure of Saudi Arabian embassy in Iran, trade with other (Arab) countries was effected," he said.
"While Iran's trade with the UAE has continued, unfortunately we witnessed strict rules imposed from the UAE on Iranian businessmen," he explained.
The value of trade between Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) stood at $14.2 billion in the past Iranian calendar year (started March 20,2020).
The target of the new government of Iran is to expand ties with 15 neighboring countries and recent meetings of Iranian officials with officials in Baghdad validated the prediction that there would be improvement in the ties.
