Iran’s PMO records decline in load/unload operations at country’s ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports decreased by 5.3 percent, in the 12th month of the last Iranian year (February 20 through March 20, 2022), compared to the same month preceding Iranian year, Trend reports via the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, about 12.2 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. Of this, 6.2 million tons were loaded and 5.98 million tons were unloaded.

“More than 3.65 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 12th month, which is a decrease of 25.1 percent, compared to the same month preceding Iranian year. So, 1.72 million tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and 1.93 million tons were unloaded. The loaded products decreased by 42.7 percent, while unloaded products increased by 2.9 percent, compared to the same month of preceding Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, 2.18 million tons of essential products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned month, which is an increase of 10.5 percent, compared to the same month preceding Iranian year. Of this, 154,000 tons were loaded and 2.03 million tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, about 1.14 million tons of metal products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 12th month, which is an increase of 33.9 percent, compared to the same month preceding Iranian year. Of this, 1.09 million tons were loaded and about 52,000 tons were unloaded.

“At the same time, about 1.86 million tons of construction and mining materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the reporting month. This is a decrease of 18.1 percent, compared to the same month of the preceding Iranian year. Of this, 1.63 million tons were loaded and 227,000 tons were unloaded,” the statistics said.

Within the 12th month, 58,400 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports. This is an increase of 49.6 percent, compared to the same month preceding Iranian year. Of this, 11,900 tons were loaded and 46,500 tons were unloaded.

According to the statistics, 385,000 tons of chemicals were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 12th month of the current Iranian year, which is an increase of 41.1 percent, compared to the same month preceding Iranian year. Of this, 303,000 tons were loaded and about 82,300 tons were unloaded.

Furthermore, about 67,000 tons of leather, clothing, fiber, paper, and wood materials were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports over the 12th month, which is a decrease of 8.3 percent, compared to the same month preceding Iranian year. So, 5,000 tons of goods were loaded and 61,900 tons were unloaded.

More than 837,000 tons of small and assorted products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports during the same month. The loaded/unloaded products increased by 34.2 percent, compared to the same month preceding Iranian year. Of this, about 400,000 tons were loaded and 437,000 tons were unloaded, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 2 million tons of container products were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the 12th month, which is an increase of 5.8 percent, compared to the same month preceding Iranian year. So, about 893,000 tons of container products were loaded and 1.1 million tons were unloaded.

Moreover, about 5.04 million tons of goods were exported and 3.1 million tons were imported through Iranian ports in the 12th month of the last Iranian year.

Also, 352,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 378,000 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for transit within the mentioned month.

According to the statistics, 669,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 2.28 million tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for cabotage in the 12th month. Also, 138,000 tons of cargo were loaded and 159,000 tons were unloaded for transshipment.

“Over the 12th month, about 7,070 tons of cargo were loaded and 62,800 tons were unloaded in Iranian ports for other purposes,” the statistics said.
