Iran talks construction progress of affordable housing

TEHRAN, Iran, September 5. The construction of 1.5 million affordable houses is underway as part of the National Housing Movement, said the Minister of Road and Urban Development, Rostam Ghasemi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The housing construction has started across the country and the Ministry of Road and Urban Development has allocated lands for building 1.9 million residential units, he said during a meeting at the Supreme Housing Council.

Various ministries and organizations are expected to allocate lands to construct 3.2 million houses as part of the government landmark project to build 4 million houses for the low income class.

The first Vice President Mohamad Mokhber has announced during the council meeting that the government employees would own houses as part of the National Housing Movement.

According to the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, a financial package will be finalized for supporting low income class to purchase housing units. Different organizations such as banks, the capital market, the National Development Fund and the Housing Fund will offer financial assistance.
