Iran divulges product imports from Turkmenistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 16. Iran imported 31,000 tons of products worth about $38.7 million from Turkmenistan in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.

According to the statistics, Iran's imports of products from Turkmenistan last Iranian year increased by 37.5 percent in value terms and decreased by 21.6 percent in weight terms compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).

Meanwhile, Iran's imports of products from Turkmenistan totaled 39,500 tons worth $28.1 million in the previous year.

The information indicates that petroleum coke, cotton, fabric, and other products are imported by Iran from Turkmenistan.

Statistics show that Iran imported 1,090 tons of products worth about $2.32 million from Turkmenistan for the 12th month of the last Iranian year (from February 20 through March 19, 2024).

Meanwhile, according to the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration, the country's product imports last year amounted to 39 million tons worth about $66.3 billion. The import of products increased by 9.77 percent in value and 4.39 percent in weight compared to the previous year.

To note, Iran mainly focuses on importing the products needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on importing the products manufactured in the country.
