BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 16. The volume of goods transported by freight transport between 31 provinces of Iran increased by 10 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), the representative of Iran's Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, Mehrdad Hamdollahi said, Trend reports.
According to Hamdollahi, more than 555 million tons of goods
were transported between Iran's provinces last year.
Hamdollahi stated that about 182 million tons of construction
materials and minerals were transported in Iran last year. This is
13 percent more than the previous year.
Hamdollahi went on to say that last year, 21.6 million tons of critical supplies imported through the country's ports were carried to various Iranian districts.
According to the official, the country now employs 435,000 trucks and 555,000 drivers and it operates 2,793 kilometers of highway, 45,170-kilometers of freeway, and main road.
