BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 3. A total of 547,000 tons of non-oil products worth $309 million were exported from East Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran) in the current Iranian year's first two months (from March 20 through May 20, 2024), the province's customs inspector, Sadegh Namdar, told reporters in Tabriz today, Trend reports.
According to him, over the reporting period, this figure grew by 48 percent in terms of value.
Namdar said that steel ingots worth $24 million, styrene polymer worth $23 million, steel reinforcement worth $22 million, bitumen worth $18 million, and zinc ingots worth $18 million were exported from East Azerbaijan province in the first two months.
The customs official pointed out that in the two months, East Azerbaijan province exported 191,000 tons worth about $154 million to Türkiye, 63,000 tons worth $40.7 million to Iraq, 186,000 tons worth $35 million to Armenia, 31,000 tons worth $13.7 million to Georgia, and 19,000 tons of non-oil products worth $12.1 million to Azerbaijan.
Product exports to the mentioned countries made up 72.8 percent of the province's exports in terms of value and 88.3 percent in terms of weight.
To note, statistics from Iran's Customs Administration (IRICA) show that the country exported 23.5 million tons of non-oil products worth $8 billion from March 20 through May 20, 2024) year on year.
Additionally, Iran's non-oil exports grew by 3.8 percent in value and 8.5 percent in weight in the first two months of the current Iranian year compared to the same period in the last Iranian year.
