The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force has launched a division it calls the Drone Organization, specializing in using drones in military operations.
“We have established a drone center and organization in the IRGC Ground Force which has bases in operation areas,” the IRGC Ground Force Commander Mohammad Pakpour told Tasnim News Agency February 26.
He explained that the Drone Organization carries out the force’s drone missions.
The IRGC has been pursuing the development of a drone industry and claims to rival world powers in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles.
Back in October 2016, Commander of the IRGC’s Aerospace Division Brigadier General Amirali Hajizadeh said that Iran is among the top four countries in the world in the drone industry.
