Iran’s Rouhani slams Saudi Arabia
Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 8
By Khalid Kazimov – Trend:
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has sharply criticized Saudi Arabia over its alleged support for terrorism and causing “hostility among the nations of the region”.
“Why are you [Saudi Arabia] so hostile towards the nations of Syria and Iraq? Why do you strengthen the ISIS? Why do you interfere in the domestic affairs of Lebanon,” Rouhani said during an administrative meeting on Wednesday, official website of the Iranian president reported.
Rouhani also criticized Saudi-led coalition’s airstrikes on Houthi-held areas of Yemen and urged Saudi Arabia to stop bombing Yemen’s people.
Back on Nov. 5 Yemeni rebels targeted an airport in Saudi Arabia's capital with a ballistic missile, however the missile was intercepted over northeast Riyadh, according to the Saudi Ministry of Defense.
Following the attack, the Saudis accused Iran of “direct military aggression” by supplying missiles to Houthi rebels in Yemen.
Meanwhile Tehran called the accusations baseless and provocative.
