Turkmen ambassador Chinar Rustamova delivered his credentials to Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping in Beijing, the Turkmen government said on Tuesday.

Both sides stressed the intensification of inter-state relations and discussed the prospective directions for further development of Turkmen-Chinese cooperation in political, trade and economic, humanitarian and cultural spheres.

China is Turkmenistan's largest trading partner. Ashgabat and Beijing have recently agreed measures to promote and protect mutual investments to support commercial enterprises for their activity in the territory of the countries.

China has recently become a key buyer of Turkmen gas and expects to increase annual purchases up to 65 billion cubic meters.

Besides the gas industry, China is actively cooperating with Turkmenistan in the supply of equipment and services for transport and communications.

In particular, the Chinese industrial company Great Wall will assist launching the Turkmen first national space satellite from the China Xichang Satellite Launch Centre by using a Changzheng - 3B rocket-carrier in 2014.
