Patarkatsishvili sent a resignation letter to the members of the Olympic Committee and Jacques Rogue, president of International Olympic Committee.

"My open and honest position regarding the principle issues of Georgia's better future no longer coincides with the positions of the current leadership. I believe it's impossible to continue to work on the position of the committee president, therefore, I decided to resign," reads the letter.

Giorgi Gabashvili, Minister of Culture, Monuments protection and sports of Georgia, stated that Patarkatsishvili has no other way, because the federations declared mistrust to the former president.

GNOC unanimously voted to impeach Patarkatsishvili on October 09.

Gogi Topadze, Vice President of the GNOC, will act as president until the committee elects a new president.
