Rice: U.S. Supports Georgia’s Fight For Democracy And Pluralism

According to Condoleezza Rice, U.S. Sate Secretary, the United States will show its support to Georgia in its fight for democracy and pluralism, reported PNA.

Condoleezza Rice stated about this at the meeting with leaders of opposition and representatives of non-governmental organizations at "Tbilisi Marriott" hotel.

"Democracy is necessarily not only because people are the best but more because people are imperfect", Rice added.

Representatives of opposition discussed issues on conflict zones; Georgia's affiliation in NATO, deficit of democracy in the country as well as problems freedom caused.

David Gamkrelidze, leader of "New Rights", Levan Gachechiladze, "United Council", Shalva Natelashvili, leader of "Labour Party", Giorgi Targamadze, leader of "Christian-Democratic Movement", Davit Usupashvili, leader of "Republican Party", met U.S. State Secretary on Thursday.

Representatives of non-governmental organizations and Nino Burjanadze, former Charwoman of Parliament, as well as Giorgi Chkheidze, Head of Young Lawyers Association, attended the meeting.
