Georgian Armed Forces to be Increased by 5,000 People
Georgia, Tbilisi, 15 July / corr. Trend N.Kirtzkhalia / The Georgian Armed Forces will be expanded from 32,000 to 37,000 people. This fact targets increasing defense capability and forming standards in line with the international and NATO standards, Nika Rurua, deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee on defense and security, told journalists.
"Moreover, increasing the composition of the Armed Forces will assist to fulfill obligations, which were taken under international agreements," Rurua said.
This issue was initiated at the meeting of the parliamentary bureau held on 14 July and the legislative body is to examine this issue at the session to be held on 15 July.
