Madrid court sentenced the "thief in law" Shakro Kalashov to pretrial detention. It means that the procedure of his extradition to Georgia began, Georgian Deputy Minister of Justice Tina Burjaliani told media.

"We are actively working with our Spanish colleagues. We know that he detained in a Madrid prison," she said.

However she assumed that lawyers of Kalashov, involved in the so-called "cocaine case" may appeal the decision of the court. Thus, he tries to protract the extradition process, she said.

The Georgian side also works on the arrest and extradition of another native of Georgia, involved in drug-related crimes - Nugzar Bochorishvili. According to available information, he is in Spain, Deputy Minister of Justice said.

Shakro Kalashov was arrested in Spain yesterday at the request of the Georgian side. Deputy Interior Minister and Justice Minister were sent to Madrid. The Georgian Interior Ministry unveiled a scheme by which Kalashov and Bochorishvili oversaw the delivery of cocaine from Latin America to Georgia and from there to European markets.
