Georgia's President Mikheil Saakashvili called on the ambassadors of foreign countries to closely follow the debates in the Georgian Parliament. "Exactly the parliament decides everything and if you want to know what's happening in the country, you need to listen to debates and speeches of both majority and opposition," Saakashvili said in his address to the parliament on Feb.11.
He stressed that one should focus on these debates as a picture of events taking place in Georgia. "One should not listen to the various rumors and innuendo, and draw any conclusions on this basis, but listen to the opposition and the majority here, and then it becomes clear what is happening in the country in reality," he said.
Saakashvili said that once a year the ambassadors can get reliable information, and advised them to do so.
"I do not want this microphone to be mine, but a microphone of our people, and I want to bring the problems of our people to your attention. I daily meet people, and often without a camera, and therefore I know very well what hurts my people," Saakashvili said.
