Georgian interior ministry signs agreement to exchange operational information with five CIS countries

Georgian Interior Ministry will exchange operational information with the interior ministries of five countries with the help of a special network. Georgian Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili signed an agreement on this today with representatives of the interior ministries of five countries.

After the meeting in Batumi, the guests held talks with their Georgian counterpart.

Merabishvili stated after the meeting that an agreement has been signed aimed at combating organized crime. He said according to the document, Georgia and these countries will exchange information through a special network.

"This is the first precedent in this region, when there appeared an alternative network, through which we exchange information with our colleagues. I am glad that our friends with us created a new network, with its help we will be able to exchange operational information," said Merabishvili.

Heads of operating units of interior ministries of Azerbaijan, Moldova, Ukraine, Armenia and Belarus are on a three-day visit to Georgia.
