Georgia to be active in civil projects in Afghanistan

Georgia is keen to participate in all civil projects, which the international community is implementing in Afghanistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Grigol Vashadze said in a conference on Afghanistan in Bonn.

Georgia is keen to participate in all civil projects, which the international community is implementing in Afghanistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Grigol Vashadze said in a conference on Afghanistan in Bonn.

"We have been actively involved in both military and civilian projects in Afghanistan and we intend to continue it," Vashadze noted. "Georgia will take its utmost to achieve durable democratization in Afghanistan."

Vashadze had a meeting with his Afghan counterpart, who thanked Georgia for the contribution in stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan.

"Georgia is one of the largest contributors to operations in Afghanistan. Therefore, it is very important that we were included in the decision making process, as well as discussion of future plans," Vashadze noted

Vashadze attended the International Conference on Afghanistan in Bonn on Monday. The event aimed at the international community's participation in the transfer of power to the national leadership of Afghanistan and in the country's further development.

Foreign ministers of all countries involved in the peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan attended the conference.
