From March, 30,000 Russian citizens have crossed the border to Georgia, spokesperson for president Manana Manjgaladze said at a traditional briefing on Tuesday. She said this figure is 70 per cent higher than the figure of the same period last year.
She noted this once again confirms the correctness of the abolition of visa regime with Russia.
"At the same time it is an additional financial resource for Georgia's tourism infrastructure. More tourists means more people employed," said Manjgaladze
She said on Monday Mikheil Saakashvili was on the Georgian-Russian border at the Lars checkpoint, where he had the opportunity to see how this initiative works in practice.
