The Georgian parliament has today voted in the third reading for the constitutional amendments related to Bidzina Ivanishvili’s participation in the elections. The decision was supported by 111 MPs, against - 0.

The Georgian parliament has today voted in the third reading for the constitutional amendments related to Bidzina Ivanishvili's participation in the elections. The decision was supported by 111 MPs, against - 0.

Besides Georgian citizens, the individuals of certain age who were born and lived in Georgia for the last five years and having the citizenship of the EU countries have the right to participate and vote in parliamentary elections from Jan. 1, 2014.

According to the same bill on constitutional amendments, the individuals aged 21, rather than 25 are eligible to be elected as MPs.

On April 21 leader of the opposition coalition "Georgia Dream" billionaire Ivanishvili founded the new party - "Georgia's dream - democratic Georgia".

The founding congress elected human rights activist and lawyer Manana Kobakhidze as chairman of the party. Ivanishvili can not lead the party as he does not have Georgian citizenship.
