Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia commented on the resolution on Georgia adopted by the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on July 9.

It is the first resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly, in which Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region / South Ossetia are referred to as the occupied territories, Georgian Foreign Minister said on Thursday. The resolution strongly supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia and calls on Russia to fulfill ceasefire agreement reached with the mediation of the European Union. It also calls on all parties to enable the EU observer mission to freely enter the occupied territories.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the fact that the resolution stresses the right of IDPs to return to their homes, and also attaches great importance to humanitarian issues. Georgia expresses its readiness to accept observers of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and reaffirms its readiness to fulfill OSCE commitments and to act in accordance with the recommendations of the organization following the principles of equal participation in elections, justice and transparency.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs is grateful for the moral fortitude, which the members of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly - parliamentarians of Europe, Central Asia and North America exhibit in addressing security and humanitarian issues of Georgia and its citizens.
