Forest fire extinguished by aircraft in south of Georgia

Georgian rescuers managed to extinguish a forest fire in Samtskhe-Javakheti (South Georgia), 13 km from Borjomi, near the village of Chobiskhevi by using aircraft. The fire broke out on Sunday evening due to unknown reasons.

Georgian rescuers managed to extinguish a forest fire in Samtskhe-Javakheti (South Georgia), 13 km from Borjomi, near the village of Chobiskhevi by using aircraft. The fire broke out on Sunday evening due to unknown reasons.

Local fire services and volunteers were involved in extinguishing the fire. However, vehicles could not be used for a long time because of the terrain. Two helicopters of the Georgian Interior Ministry were used. They took an active part in extinguishing the fire by the morning.

Fire destroyed a hectare of pine forest. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
