Georgia, Tbilisi, Sept. 13 / Trend N. Kirtzkhalia /

The Georgian Central Election Commission rejected registering the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation to monitor the upcoming parliamentary elections, the CEC reported on Wednesday.

The CEC has not specified the reasons for refusing to register Russian observers.

Currently, around 25 international and 38 local organisations that intend monitoring the electoral process in Georgia have been registered.

Respecting Georgia's legislation, sovereignty and international human rights, refraining from interference in the electoral process, political impartiality, the financial independence of the members of the electoral process and the transparency of funding sources, as well as protecting the principles of international observers were stressed as international principles.

According to the Russian media, representatives of the Russian Public Chamber consider the CEC refusal as politically motivated.
