Parliamentary majority will support the candidacy of Ucha Nanuashvili for the position of Ombudsman of Georgia, Deputy Speaker Manana Kobakhidze told journalists agter the meeting with the candidates.
Before that it was known that the majority was going to support the candidacy of Nina Hatiskatsi for the post of Ombudsman.
"It was very difficult to make a decision. There were worthy candidates. We made a political decision that Ucha Nanuashvili is a candidate who will be qualified Ombudsman and will make a great contribution to the protection of human rights," Kobakhidze said.
MPs from the majority met with Nanuashvili in a closed format. He outlined his program and presented own plans and priorities in the case of appointment to the post.
Nanuashvili has been leading the Center for Human Rights for many years.
